Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Drug Trafficking Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Seneca man remains in jail today, pending a bond hearing, after his arrest overnight on a drug trafficking charge which came as a result of a traffic stop.
63 year old Stephen Ray Oliver, of Petty Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 4:11am this morning. Oliver has been charged with one count each of Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Driving under Suspension and for being a Habitual Traffic Offender.
A Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau, on routine patrol on Blue Ridge Boulevard near Seneca, initiated a traffic stop on a beige Chevrolet Truck for a traffic violation. The traffic stop took place in parking lot off of Blue Ridge Boulevard.
The Deputy spoke with the driver of the truck, identified as Oliver. The Deputy learned from dispatch that Oliver’s license was suspended and that he had prior convictions for driving under suspension. Oliver was placed under arrest.
A K-9 handler from the Walhalla Police Department arrived with a K-9 officer to conduct a free air sniff of the truck involved in the traffic stop. The K-9 officer gave a positive alert of narcotics inside of the truck. During a search of the truck, approximately 16.68 grams of narcotics were located inside.
Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, an arrest warrant for Trafficking in Methamphetamine was obtained against Oliver.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
