Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Attempted Murder Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Seneca man remains in jail today, on a combined $375,000 surety bond, after his arrest over the weekend on a charge of Attempted Murder.

 

25 year old Elisha Reid Busby was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 7:38am on Sunday, May 31st.  Besides the Attempted Murder charge, Busby has also been charged with one count of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and two counts of Discharging a Firearm into a Dwelling.

 

The Sheriff’s Office began their investigation early yesterday morning after Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to Keowee School Road, in the Bountyland Community, in reference to a shooting incident.  As the investigation commenced, and evidence was gathered from the scene, it was determined that two apartments had been struck by gunfire.  However, no injuries were reported. 

 

A Violent Crimes Investigator assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau was notified.  Deputies then responded to an address on Leland Street, which is near Seneca and Bruce Hill Boulevard, in reference to serving a search warrant.  While on scene, Deputies also spoke with Busby, who was identified as a suspect in the investigation.  Evidence related to the investigation was obtained from the Leland Street address in reference to the search warrant execution.

 

Based upon the evidence obtained during the investigation, Busby was placed under arrest.  According to an arrest warrant, Busby fired multiple rounds from a firearm at an adult male who was standing outside of his residence.  The shots were fired from a handgun by Busby, who was inside of a vehicle that was being driven on Keowee School Road, according to information obtained during the investigation.

 

 The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
