(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Seneca man remains in jail today, on a combined $80,000 surety bond, after his arrest yesterday morning on charges related to a Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor investigation.

43 year old Luis Armando Argueta Montejo of Seneca was booked into the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office at around 9:46am Thursday after his arrest during a Warrant Service.  Montejo has been arrested on three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – Second Degree and one count of Incest.  The investigation only involves one juvenile victim.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began on April 11th of this year after the juvenile victim gave birth to a child in the parking lot of Oconee Memorial Hospital.  Both the juvenile and an adult female were transported due to a medical call.

Deputies met with an employee of the Department of Social Services and the investigation was turned over to an Investigator assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Based upon evidence that was obtained during the investigation, and after presenting that evidence to a Judge, probable cause was established that determined that Montejo had engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim between 2022 and 2025.

Both the juvenile and the child were placed into Emergency Protective Custody and both are in a safe environment.  Investigators are still conducting an inquiry to determine the identity of the father of the child.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  Due to the preservation of the ongoing investigation, and that of the underage victim, the Sheriff’s Office will not release any further information that could, either directly or indirectly, identify the victim in this case or the young child.
