Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests West Union Man on Charges Related to Home Break-In


Dawson Donald Batchelor, Jr.


(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A West Union has been charged by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, on multiple counts, after deputies responded to reports a break-in of a home early Monday morning.


45 year old Dawson Donald Batchelor, Jr., of Jefferson Road, has been charged with one count each of First Degree Burglary, Trespassing, Malicious Injury to Property and Beach of Peace. At this time, Batchelor, Jr. remains in jail pending a bond hearing. Batchelor, Jr. was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:51pm Monday.


Deputies were dispatched around 4:30am Monday to an address on Oconee Estates Road near Seneca. After arriving on scene, deputies discovered an individual, identified as Batchelor, Jr., rolling around on the ground, yelling, and spraying himself in the face with water. As deputies placed Batchelor, Jr. into custody, he told deputies that he was being chased by drones and was being sprayed with bug spray.


Deputies spoke with the homeowners, who stated that Batchelor, Jr. kicked in the glass screen door and the wooded front door to the residence. Batchelor, Jr. also made entry into the residence screaming and yelling. One of the residents obtained a firearm and advised the subject to leave.


Batchelor, Jr. was placed under arrest and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.


According to the arrest warrants obtained by the Sheriff’s Office, Batchelor, Jr. did forcibly break-into the residence during hours of darkness. Batchelor, Jr. was also ordered to leave the property by the residents. According to arrest warrants, Batchelor, Jr. also has two or more prior convictions for Property Crimes.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
