(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Westminster man was arrested by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office late last week on two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 3rd Degree in an investigation involving two separate victims.

20 year old Braxton Martin Brown was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:53pm last Friday, May 1st by a Deputy assigned to the Warrants Unit.  Brown was given a combined $30,000 surety bond.  Brown was released from jail on Sunday, May 3rd after posting bond.

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on Thursday, April 30th of this year after a Violent Crimes Investigator, assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau, received information from the Anderson City Police Department in reference to reports of sexual activity between Brown and one of the victims, who is a teenager, which occurred inside of Oconee County.

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Brown had sexual relations with the victim near Westminster during the winter and early spring of 2026.

During the course of the investigation, the Investigator was able to obtain evidence that Brown had sexual relations with a separate victim, also a teenager, near West Union during the fall and winter of 2025.

After consultations with a Judge, probable cause was determined to exist and arrest warrants were obtained against Brown in the investigation.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the two underage victims, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, in any way, identify the two victims in this investigation.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Anderson City Police Department for their assistance in our investigation.
