Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Westminster Man on Criminal Sexual Conduct Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Westminster man remains in jail today, on a $10,000 surety bond, after his arrest on a charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct – Third Degree.

 

31 year old Tyler Lane Black, of Earles Grove Road and Dean Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 12:21am Friday.  Black was taken into custody during a Warrants Service late Thursday evening at an address on Shady Lane, which is in the Earles Grove Community. 

 

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began on November 2nd of last year after an Investigator from the Violent Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau was notified that an adult female had been sexually assaulted by Black in late October of last year at a residence near the South Union Community. 

 

The victim was advised by the Investigator to go to the hospital in order to be examined.  The victim went to the hospital.  The Investigator also continued to gather evidence in the investigation. 

 

Based upon evidence that was obtained during the investigation, Black was charged by the Investigator with a sexual battery for forcing sexual intercourse with the victim against her will, with Black using force, according to the arrest warrant. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigations. 

 

Black will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released from jail.
