Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Westminster Man on First Degree Burglary Charge

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man yesterday on a charge of First Degree Burglary.


18 year old Austin Hubert Parker of Clearmont Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:13pm Tuesday during the execution of a search warrant. Parker was located on the property and taken into custody without incident.


A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to an address on N. Piedmont Street on Monday morning in regards to reports of a possible burglary. The deputy spoke with the homeowners who said that someone had been at their residence around 2:30am Monday in an incident reported to the Westminster Police Department.


Later Monday morning, around 4:40am, the homeowners observed an individual on the property again. Another Uniform Patrol Bureau deputy located a potential suspect inside of a business. The deputy’s began an investigation and collected evidence.


Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, an Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau obtained an arrest warrant against Parker on First Degree Burglary after Parker admitted being at the residence twice on Monday morning.


According to the arrest warrant, in the Sheriff’s Office investigation, Parker was charged with entering the dwelling home without consent and with the intent to commit a crime, as Parker was looking to steal an item from the home.


Parker was given a $50,000 surety bond on the Sheriff’s Office charge. The Westminster Police Department filed charges of First Degree Burglary and Petit Larceny against Parker; however, bond has not been set on those charges.


At this time, Parker remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center. Parker will have to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released.
