Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Westminster Man on Trafficking in Methamphetamine Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Westminster man remains in jail today, on a combined $75,000 surety bond, after his arrest last Friday on a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine. 

 

32 year old Colby Edward Watts, of Watts Trail Drive, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:40pm.  Watts was also issued citations on charges of Driving under Suspension and for Operating a Vehicle Uninsured.

 

A Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau, on routine patrol, conducted a traffic stop last Friday morning on a black BMW, which Watts was in operation of, on Return Church Road near West-Oak Highway and Mildred Johnson Road.  The Deputy was able to confirm that Watts’ license was suspended and that was vehicle Watts was operating was uninsured.

 

The Deputy placed Watts under arrest for Driving under Suspension.  A K-9 handler assigned to the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement (P.A.C.E.) team deployed K-9 officer Zeke at the scene.  K-9 officer Zeke gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics inside of the vehicle. 

 

A search of the vehicle produced a quantity of Methamphetamine inside of the vehicle.  The quantity of Methamphetamine seized was approximately 47 grams.

 

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, the Deputy obtained an arrest warrant for Trafficking in Methamphetamine against Watts.

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
