(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------An investigation into stolen property Tuesday afternoon by investigators led to multiple charges being filed against a Westminster man, including charges of Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Trafficking in Heroin.
39 year old Bradley Scott Cantrell was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:26am Wednesday. Cantrell was also charged with two counts of Resisting Arrest and one count each of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Receiving Stolen Goods.
Investigators went to an address on Cobb Trail Road near Westminster due to information that Cantrell was staying at that location and that stolen items were located on the property. Cantrell also had an outstanding Magistrates Bench Warrant.
Investigators made contact with Cantrell and a female at the incident location. After receiving word that the Bench Warrant was active, Cantrell ran from the investigators. After initially resisting arrest, Cantrell was taken into custody. The female was released from the scene by investigators.
Based on a subsequent investigation, investigators obtained search warrants for vehicles and a camper on the property.
Based upon evidence that was obtained by investigators, a trafficking weight of Methamphetamine and Heroin was seized by investigators, along with a quantity of a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam). A 1999 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Motorcycle, which was reported stolen to the Sheriff’s Office on July 24th, 2020, was also recovered.
Also recovered by investigators was a stolen Ruger 5.56 Rifle with a Scope. Since drug trafficking is considered to be a violent crime under South Carolina law, Cantrell was also charged with Possessing a Weapon during Commission of this Violent Crime.
At this time, Cantrell remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center. Cantrell received a combined $269,410.00 surety bond.
