Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Westminster Men during Execution of Search Warrant

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The execution of a search warrant yesterday morning by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of two men on drug charges.


36 year old Dexter Lamar Mathis and 43 year old Mario Demetric Stowers, both of Clearmont Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 12:43pm and 12:45pm respectively.


The Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant at the Clearmont Road address. The search warrant was obtained based on an investigation by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.


During the execution of the search warrant, additional quantities of narcotics were seized. A child was located inside of the residence. The Department of Social Services was contacted and the child was placed in a safe environment.


Stowers was served with two arrest warrants, charging him with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Trafficking in Heroin, based upon previous controlled purchases.


Mathis was booked into jail on a Temporary Custody Order until arrest warrants were obtained today, charging him with one count each of Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.


At this time, Stowers remains in jail on a combined $200,000 surety bond. Mathis also remains in jail, at this time, pending a bond hearing.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
