Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Charges Spartanburg County Woman with Being Fugitive from Justice

(Walhalla, SC)------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Spartanburg County woman on Saturday morning with being a Fugitive from Justice from the state of North Carolina.


25 year old Makayla Mae Briggs, who has listed addresses in Chesnee and Inman, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 4:41am on March 25th.


A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau arrested Briggs after responding to a call for service involving a disturbance on Echo Hill Trail, which is near Seneca, last Saturday morning. After arriving on scene, the deputy began an investigation into a reported assault.


A check of Briggs’ information revealed that she was wanted out of the state of North Carolina for drug trafficking. Briggs was arrested and transported to jail.


According to an arrest warrant, Briggs is a fugitive from justice from North Carolina for the offenses of Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Possession of Stolen Firearms.


A hold was placed on Briggs by the Lincolnton (NC) Police Department. Lincolnton is located in Lincoln County, North Carolina which is in the Charlotte Metro area.


At this time, Briggs remains in jail pending extradition.
