Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Continues Investigation into Tuesday Evening Shooting

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------An investigation is continuing today in relation to a shooting that occurred late Tuesday evening in the Holly Springs Community of Oconee County.


Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on Ora Road near Longcreek Highway in regards to reports of a subject who had sustained a gunshot wound. Once on scene, deputies discovered the victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. The deputies administered first aid to the victim while also beginning the initial investigation and the collection of evidence.


Initial information obtained by deputies indicated that a female entered the residence of the victim and began to have casual conversation with the victim. While turning away from the female, a male, reportedly wearing a mask and armed with a gun, entered the residence and demanded money. After being asked to leave the residence by the victim, the male fired a shot at the victim, which struck him in the leg, and then took an undisclosed amount of money. Both the male and female then left the scene.


An investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division was notified and responded to the scene to continue the investigation. The victim was airlifted to the hospital to continue treatment for his injury. Due to safety and health privacy reasons, the victim’s name and condition will not be released by the Sheriff’s Office.
