Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Sunday Evening Shooting Incident

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------An Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred late Sunday evening near Walhalla.
Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau were dispatched at around 10:17pm Sunday to an address on Berry N Serena Lane, which is near Coffee Road, in reference to a report of a disturbance and a report of shots possibly fired. After arriving on scene, Deputies discovered a man who had suffered a gunshot wound.
An Investigator was notified and responded to the scene. According to information obtained by the Investigator, the incident that occurred stemmed from a family dispute. Evidence produced indicated that an adult male came to the residence, upon which a physical altercation occurred between the adult male and a property owner, also an adult male.
During the altercation, a third party tried to separate the two parties who are fighting. During the course of the physical altercation, the third party produced a firearm and fired a shot, which struck the male who had arrived on scene, and who was not the property owner, in the ear.
Paramedics arrived on scene and transported the man who had been shot to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation of a non-life threatening injury.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. At this time, no one has been arrested in relation to this incident.
