(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A West Union man remains in jail today, after his bond was denied after appearing before a Magistrate’s Judge, on charges of First Degree Burglary and Assault with Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct – 1st Degree.

40 year old Lance Tyler Bugg was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:21pm Monday. Bugg was arrested by Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began after a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to a residence on Doubloon Street in West Union late Sunday morning in regards to an incident that reportedly occurred last Friday morning, August 18th.

The victim, an adult female, told the Deputy that she woke up with Bugg attempting to have sex with her without her consent. Bugg, who had resided at the residence and had a previous relationship with the victim, told the victim last Thursday that he was moving out. The victim changed the combination code on the front door and Bugg did not have a key to the residence.

The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Bureau. Based on evidence that was obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Bugg had voluntarily left the residence and returned without the consent or the knowledge of the victim. According to an arrest warrant, Bugg entered the residence during the nighttime and an assault was committed during the offense.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation. Due to the nature of the crime, the victim’s name will not be released by the Sheriff’s Office.
