OCSO Hosting 6th Annual Retired Law Enforcement Officers Appreciation Lunch

(Walhalla, SC)------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting its 6th annual Retired Law Enforcement Officers Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday, June 23rd.

Any retired local, state, tribal or federal law enforcement officers, who currently reside in Oconee County, are welcome to attend this luncheon. The luncheon will be held at the Hamilton Career Center, which is located in the Oconee Industry and Technology Park on Highway 11. The luncheon will be held from 11:30am until 1:30pm.

This luncheon is for reserved guests only, so for more information or to RSVP, please contact Helen Westmoreland, Community Outreach Coordinator for the Sheriff’s Office, by phone at 864-247-4083 or via e-mail at hwestmoreland@oconeelaw.com.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we made a decision to cancel last year’s retirees’ luncheon for health and safety reasons,” according to Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. “Previously, we had hosted the luncheon during Police Officers Week in May and we saw a yearly increase in the numbers attending the luncheon. This year, we are holding the luncheon due to a decrease in the numbers of COVID-19 cases and we are moving the event to the Hamilton Career Center as that will allow us to have additional room to seat everyone comfortably and for those who want to maintain social distancing. Even though masks are not required, if attendees would like to wear one on a voluntary basis, that is fine.”

“I would like to thank the administration of the Hamilton Career Center and the School District of Oconee County for their graciousness in allowing us to hold this event at the Career Center to honor our law enforcement retirees’ who live here in Oconee County,” says Sheriff Crenshaw.
