Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Oconee County Man on a Drug Trafficking Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-----------------------------------A traffic stop conducted earlier this morning in southern Oconee County led to the arrest of an Oconee County on a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine.


A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division was on extra patrol on Conner Boulevard near Fair Play due to a complaint about reckless driving, littering and drug activity in the Port Bass Community area. While on extra patrol, a deputy observed a moped commit a traffic violation while turning onto Shelor Ferry Road.


After observing that the moped did not have a license plate, the deputy executed a traffic stop on N. Davis Drive. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as 56 year old Johnny Albert Roach, and the passenger of the moped.


After receiving consent to search, the deputy discovered a quantity of methamphetamine on the person of Roach and in Roach’s jacket as well. Roach was placed under arrest and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.


According to the arrest warrant obtained by the deputy, Roach possessed 29.8 grams of Methamphetamine. The arrest warrant charges Roach with Trafficking in Methamphetamine.


At this time, Roach remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $50,000 surety bond.


Roach has listed addresses of Brandywine Meir Lane in Longcreek and Dockins Drive in Fair Play, according to the Detention Center and the arrest warrant respectively.
