Michael Anthony McCrary

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Pickens man was arrested yesterday by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office on two outstanding arrest warrants charging him with First Degree Burglary and Petit Larceny.

26 year old Michael Anthony McCrary, of Bivens Street, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:31pm yesterday.  McCrary was transported from the Anderson County Detention Center to the Oconee County Detention Center by a Deputy from the Warrants Unit and served with the two arrest warrants and a Magistrate Bench Warrant.

During a bond hearing, McCrary was given a combined $52,125.00 personal recognizance bond on the two arrest warrants and was given a sentence on the Magistrate Bench Warrant.  After the bond hearing, McCrary was then transported back to the Anderson County Detention Center by a Deputy from the Warrants Unit.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began during the early morning hours of February 13th, 2024 after a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to an address on Landon Drive near Seneca in regards to a reported burglary.

The Deputy met with the homeowners to continue the investigation.  The Deputy obtained evidence that entry had been made into the residence.  The homeowners also discovered items missing from the home and that the house had been rummaged through.

The investigation was turned to over to an Investigator from the Property Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Based upon evidence that was obtained during the investigation, it was determined that McCrary had broken into residence, during nighttime hours, without the consent of the homeowners and with the intent to commit a crime.  According to an arrest warrant, McCrary stole a watch and a guitar from the residence.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
