(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Salem woman remains in jail today, pending a bond hearing, after her arrest earlier this morning on a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine.

23 year old Cheyenne Nicole Collier, of Shallow Ford Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 3:17am today.

The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop that occurred overnight on Smith Dairy Road and Worley Road, which is in the Earles Grove Community.  A Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau, on routine patrol, conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Impala for a traffic violation.

The Deputy made contact with the driver, an adult male, and Collier, who was in the front passenger seat.  There was also another passenger in the back seat on the driver’s side.  The driver gave consent for the Deputy to search the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle produced a backpack that contained drug paraphernalia inside.  Deputies also located a plastic bag that contained a quantity of Methamphetamine in the grass near the front passenger side of the vehicle.

As the investigation continued, Collier claimed ownership of the narcotics that were discovered.  Collier was arrested and transported to jail.  The driver and the other passenger in the vehicle were released from the scene.

According to the arrest warrant, the amount of narcotics seized was approximately 29.4 grams.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
