Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Charge

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------An investigation into an allegation of a sexual assault by the Criminal Investigations Division has led to the arrest of a Seneca man on a charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – First Degree.


32 year old Jonathan Houston Argo was taken into custody during a warrant service yesterday and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center, where he was booked in around 10:37am. At this time, Argo remains in jail on a $25,000 surety bond. Argo will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released.


A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division received a call from Greenville Memorial Hospital during the early evening hours of June 8th in regards to regards to a sexual assault involving a juvenile. The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.


As the investigation continued, and evidence was gathered in the case, it was determined that Argo had inappropriate sexual conduct with a child. The case involves only one victim.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, and in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could in any way identify the victim in this case.
