Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Drug Trafficking Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Seneca man remains in jail today, pending a bond hearing, after his arrest yesterday afternoon during a traffic stop on a charge Trafficking in Methamphetamine.

 

53 year old John David Stancil, of Yellow Pine Drive, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 3:21pm Tuesday.  In additional to the drug trafficking charge, Stancil has also been charged in the same incident with one count each of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam), Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime. 

 

Yesterday afternoon, a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau, who was conducting traffic enforcement, conducted a traffic stop on a green Honda SUV on N. Retreat Road, near Becky Lane, due to a traffic violation. 

 

A search of Stancil’s person during the traffic stop produced drug paraphernalia and a quantity of Methamphetamine on his person.  During a search of Stancil’s vehicle, Deputies located two firearms and additional quantities of Methamphetamine, as well as Marijuana and prescription medication, inside of the vehicle. 

 

Stancil was placed under arrest and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.  Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained against Stancil.

 

According to the arrest warrants, the firearms that were seized from the vehicle were a Ruger Mini-14 Tactical Rifle with a Bushnell Sight and a Diamondback Firearms, LLC black Rifle. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
