(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Seneca man remains in jail at this time, on a combined $32,205.00 surety bond, after his arrest on multiple charges in an assault and burglary investigation.

48 year old Christopher Zane Poe, of Keowee School Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 4:20am today.  Poe had outstanding arrest warrants, in relation to the incident, on charges of First Degree Burglary, Petit Larceny and Assault and Battery – 3rd Degree.

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on January 3rd of this year after a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to an address on Keowee School Road in regards to a report of a burglary and an assault.

The Deputy spoke with the victim, who stated that Poe had broken into his apartment, assaulted him and demanded money.  The Deputy observed a physical manifestation of injuries on the face of the victim.

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Poe broke into the dwelling house of the victim, without consent, and with the intent to commit a crime.  According to an arrest warrant, Poe caused an injury to the victim by forcing the victim’s front door open, which caused an injury to the victim’s head and face area.  Also, Poe attempted to take and carry away cash which belonged to the victim, according to an arrest warrant.
