Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Kidnapping and Domestic Violence Charges

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------A Seneca man remains in custody today, at the Oconee County Detention Center, after his bond was denied on three charges related to an Oconee County Sheriff’s Office investigation.


29 year old Demarcus Shawntez Taylor, of Summit Street, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:33am today after being taken into custody by deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau.


Taylor has been charged by the Sheriff’s Office with one count each of Kidnapping, Domestic Violence – 2nd Degree and Assault and Battery – 3rd Degree. The Seneca Police Department also obtained an arrest warrant against Taylor on a charge of Stalking.


The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation last Friday afternoon after responding to an address on Davis Creek Road, near Highway 123, in relation to a domestic disturbance call. The deputy spoke with an ex-girlfriend of Taylor as well as a third party.


According to evidence gathered in the investigation, Taylor assaulted his ex-girlfriend, with a chokehold, in the attempt to physically and verbally force the victim to get into his vehicle against her will. Taylor also assaulted the third party who was attempting to defend the victim.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. Due to the nature of the charges filed, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing the name of the victim nor the third party in relation to the incident.
