(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Seneca man with one count each of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Malicious Injury to Personal Property in relation to an investigation into a pursuit from August of this year.

23 year old Shawn Lee Foote II of Ames Street was arrested on August 30th on two counts of Receiving Stolen Goods in relation to other property crime investigations.

On August 17th, the Sheriff’s Office issued a news release in regards to seeking the public’s help in identifying a subject who led deputies on a pursuit in the Timberlake One area near Townville. The subject was operating a motorcycle that matched the body style of a motorcycle that was reported stolen in the same area the same week.

During the pursuit, the deputy observed the driver accelerate the motorcycle, driving down the Timberlake Boat Ramp and into the water. Efforts were made, at that time, to locate the driver of the motorcycle; however, the driver was not located.

Deputies did recover evidence from the scene as the investigation continued. An Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau, based upon the evidence recovered, identified Foote II as the driver and obtained the two arrest warrants against him.

According to the arrest warrants, Foote II possessed a 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250cc Motorcycle, knowing that the motorcycle was stolen. The motorcycle was reported stolen by the owner on August 15 of this year to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

Foote II was also charged with damaging the motorcycle by intentionally driving the motorcycle into Lake Hartwell, which totaled the motorcycle.

At this time, Foote II remains in jail on a combined $50,000 surety bond. Foote II will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
