Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Cook Team to Hold the First Community Cook of 2026

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will be holding the first Community Cook of 2026 on Tuesday, March 31st.

The Sheriff’s Office Cook Team will be preparing and serving meals that day from 5pm to 7pm at Rocky Knoll Baptist Church, which is located near Walhalla on Highway 28.  The Cook Team is holding the Community Cook in partnership with Rocky Knoll Baptist.

The Community Cook is being sponsored by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Foundation and the Isaiah 40:31 Foundation.  Over the past few years, anonymous donations made by the Isaiah 40:31 Foundation have allowed the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office to continue to forge relationships with our citizens through the Community Cooks and other outreach initiatives.

There is no cost for the meal and the Sheriff’s Office invites everyone to come out for a great evening of food and fellowship with our Deputies.  The meal will consist of Philly Cheesesteaks, prepared fresh by the Sheriff’s Office Cook Team, along with chips and a drink.

Over the last few years, the Sheriff’s Office Cook Team has been able to continue the work of forging relationships with our citizens through our Community Cooks.  The Cook Team has traveled to locations in Mountain Rest, Oakway, Salem, Seneca, Walhalla and Westminster to prepare meals for those who have attended the Community Cooks.

According to the King James Version of the Bible, Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
