Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Seeks the Public’s Help in Counterfeit Money Investigation





(UPDATE: The person of interest in our investigation has been identified. The investigation does remain active and ongoing at this time).


(Walhalla, SC)————————————–The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help today in a counterfeit money investigation.


The Sheriff’s Office is also seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in relation to the investigation.


A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to the Dollar General, on Wells Highway near Seneca, on October 26th in regards to a white male who paid for merchandise using fake $20 dollar bills. The incident occurred around 8:15pm on the evening of October 14th, 2022.


The white male that Investigators are attempting to identify has dark long brown hair, a beard, tattoos on his left shoulder and was wearing a black tank top and black pants.


The counterfeit money was placed into evidence and the investigation has been turned over to the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
