(Update: Terry Brandon Ramey was arrested on June 28th and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center, where he remains in custody at this time.)
(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help today in locating a Westminster man who is wanted on nine arrest warrants.
The arrest warrants obtained against 44 year old Terry Brandon Ramey, of Sweetbriar Trail, stem from a welfare check conducted overnight by Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau based upon information that Ramey reportedly wanted to harm himself. Ramey also has an outstanding Family Court Bench Warrant.
When Deputies arrived at the Sweetbriar Trail address, they made contact with Ramey and an adult female. Due to Ramey running from Deputies earlier in the day, a Deputy attempted to place Ramey in custody.
Ramey ran to a bedroom where he retrieved a rifle and pointed it at the Deputy. The adult female was removed from the house and additional Deputies arrived on scene. Deputies continued speaking with Ramey in order to resolve the situation peacefully as Ramey told Deputies that he wanted to harm himself.
As communications between Ramey and the Deputies continued, Ramey set fire to the curtains in the bedroom. Efforts were made to put out the fire as it grew. Firefighters responded to the scene and the fire was extinguished.
A thorough check of the house was completed and no bodies or human remains were discovered. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division responded to the scene and an Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau also responded to take over the investigation. The adult female was later released.
Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained by an investigator today charging Ramey with six counts of Resisting Arrest and one count each of Second Degree Arson, Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person and Resisting Arrest with a Deadly Weapon.
