OCSO Arrests Mountain Rest Man in Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Investigation



(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A 42 year old Mountain Rest man remains in jail today after his arrest last Friday morning on multiple charges in a Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor investigation.

 

42 year old Bobby Joe Davis, whose bond was denied during his initial bond hearing, will appear before a Circuit Court Judge, at a later time, regarding his bond.  Davis has been charged with 12 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – First Degree, seven counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – Second Degree and one count each of Assault and Battery – 2nd Degree and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

 

Davis was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 9:48am on December 8th. 

 

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began on December 3rd of this year after a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau was notified of allegations of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor.  The Deputy made contact with the two victims and a family member.

 

The Department of Social Services was notified and the investigation was turned over the Criminal Investigations Bureau. 

 

Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Davis had sexually assaulted both victims.  The time period that the incidents occurred was between 2013 and 2023 when the victims were children or teenagers.

 

Davis is also accused of supplying one of the victims with a THC gummy, in 2023, while also smoking marijuana in front of the victim, according to an arrest warrant. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victims involved, the Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing any information that could, either directly or indirectly, identify the victims in this investigation.
